Update #3 - Where I do battle with my website, meet my fellow Collective members, and do a photoshoot of my work

This is where I share what I’ve been up to behind the scenes to move my art career forward - the good, the bad, and the as-yet-to-be-determined.

I met the rest of the Art Collective this week, and I’m so happy to be a part of such a wonderful group. There were a couple of other new members which was lovely - I was a bit worried about being the only newbie in an established group, but all was well.

I’m so excited about all the opportunities which will be coming my way because of this group, and all because of one very tentative Instagram message! It really consolidates my theory that the only thing I need to worry about is the actions I can take - the process - and the rest of it will just fall into place.

This week’s Rose, Bud, & Thorn

The Rose is something that went well, the Thorn is something that didn’t go so well or is challenging, and the Bud is something that is still percolating…

ROSE

So, meeting the Collective definitely counts as a Rose this week, but something else also did, which really surprised me. Remember last week I was really worried about doing a photoshoot with my husband? Just the logistics of it felt overwhelming. Well, we found a day we were both free, and took all the photos, and it turned out to be one of the loveliest work days I’ve ever had!

We worked bloody hard, and my apartment was a total bombsite afterwards, but we both came out of it feeling great, and I got some beautiful pictures of my work.

BUD

Now I have lovely pictures of my work I’ve been uploading them all into a system called Artwork Archive* which will save me so much time and trouble in the future. I’ve decided to only upload the last few years worth of work for now, and at some point in the future I’ll go back and add in the older stuff.

I recommended the system to the Collective as well and they (quite rightly) thought it was fab, and have started using it to make catalogues and whatnot to promote the group.

THORN

My website is taking so much longer than I expected. I haven’t built a website for a while and I’d forgotten that this always happens. You get to a point where you think you’re 90% of the way there, and then it takes about the same amount of time to do the last 10% as it did to do the preceding 90%! I’m frustrated that it’s taking so long, but I’ll get there soon.

See you next week!
